Making the most of Spotify: Search Tips

After learning a bit about searching Spotify... it seemed worth creating a sticky with key information for all Spotify users... so here it is. Feel free to add tips to the thread, though I'll consider editing this first post to add them in so users have a simple point of reference on useful tips.

Search Tips
Search Terms
"madonna" - (No search terms used) - Search for the word "madonna" in track titles, album titles and artist names

"title:madonna" - Search track titles for the word "madonna" (does NOT search artist names or album titles (unless they're in the track title!))

"album:madonna" - Search album titles for the word "madonna"

"artist:madonna" Search artist names for the word "madonna"

"year:1990" or "year:1990-1995" - Search for songs released on a particular year, or within a year range

"genre:soul" - Search for tracks by genre (Full Genre List (http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key= ... jinSs9hkZw))

"label:sony" - Search for tracks by the label "sony" (Full Label List (http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key= ... GIMNHVl0ng))


Exclusions/Combinations - (AND / NOT / OR)
AND
Positive combinations are applied by placing a space between search terms
e.g1. "genre:techno year:1990-1995" - Search for techno tracks and albums from the early '90s
e.g2. "artist:"grateful dead" year:1965-1970" - Search for tracks and albums by the artist Grateful Dead (or with "Grateful Dead" in the artist name) in the provided date range.
Note: Although you don't have to use quotes around the artist name, quotes can be used to ensure Spotify interprets your search correctly.

NOT
"-" - Placed prior to a search term, a minus sign will exclude those returned by this search term
e.g1. "snow -artist:snow patrol" will return tracks and albums containing the word "snow" but NOT those with "Snow Patrol" in the artist name.
e.g2. "artist:u2 -year:2006-2008" will return tracks and albums with "U2" in the artist name but NOT those from 2006 to 2008.

OR
"OR" - Placed between search terms (in uppercase), the word "OR" will combine the results of two separate searches.
e.g. "artist:u2 OR artist:snow patrol" will return all tracks and albums with "U2" in the artist name as well as those with "Snow Patrol in the artist name.
